Impact Handling is reinforcing its commitment to the heavy truck sector with the arrival of four Konecranes forklifts and a pair of MAFI terminal tractors in its 1,300-strong hire fleet. This significant investment marks the first Konecranes and MAFI assets to enter Impact Handling’s hire fleet, following its appointment as a distributor in 2014.
The Konecranes machines include three 16-tonners and one 12-tonne model, whilst the MAFI units are purpose-built for terminal operations and up to five times more efficient than using a conventional road-going tractor unit. As well as being available for rental, they will allow customers to trial the new machines ahead of longer-term purchasing decisions.
Nigel Richardson, Divisional Sales Manager at Impact Handling, says: “We’re seeing unprecedented demand for machines at the heavier end of the spectrum, particularly from customers in the ports and rail freight sector. This order will enable us to meet this initial demand, but it’s really just the beginning.
“We’ve got exciting plans to continue to grow our heavy-truck capability throughout 2015. Container handlers are next on the shopping list; we want our short-term hire fleet to complement the full range of equipment we offer for sale and on long-term contract.” This full range currently includes access to new Konecranes reach stackers and MAFI terminal tractors available ex-stock, enabling Impact Handling to forgo normal factory lead times and deliver selected models almost immediately.
Impact Handling operates one of the most extensive and modern hire fleets in the materials handling sector. It can supply anything from pallet trucks to heavy-duty 16 tonne machines, available for delivery via its own distribution fleet on either a same-day or next-day basis. Hire periods begin from a single day and Impact Handling’s mobile service teams can support customers in any mainland UK location.
